The Maple Lake Public School held its annual Truth in Taxation hearing on Monday, Dec. 9 where school board members certified the payable 2025 property tax levy at $3,811,551.26 for a decrease of $46,451 or 1.20%.
Monday night’s action is the culmination of a five-month process that began in August. In September, the board certified the maximum proposed levy. From that point on, the levy number could not go up, only down, except if there were changes in state calculations or a tax levy approved in the November election. In November the County mailed levy notices to property owners. The mandatory Truth in Taxation hearing is always held in December.
